Camp Kostopulos & RST Brands Come Together To Celebrate Camp K’s 50th Year

20 July, 2017

Camp Kostopulos is celebrating their 50th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, RST Brands donated their indoor furniture collections and other furniture pieces to the camp for their campers to enjoy.

Since 1967, the Kostopulos Dream Foundation has been “improving the lives of people of all abilities through education, recreation, and growth opportunities.” Via a collection of activities and services, Camp K has helped countless individuals with disabilities to gain self-confidence, learn life skills, and have fun at the same time.

Founded by Dan and Helen Kostopulos, Camp K sits on 25 acres of Emigration Canyon, less than 3 miles outside of Salt Lake City. Originally just a summer camp, Camp K has grown to include so much more.

Camp K’s summer camps are still their most popular activities, but they also have partner day camps, where attendees with disabilities share the facilities with campers without disabilities, helping both learn how to interact and help each other. Another prominent feature of Camp K’s activities are the equestrian programs, which include both group and private lessons. Camp K also (among other activities) holds a number of community-based programs, specialty programs, and team building activities, as well as offering reservations for private functions.

Though many of their activities appeal to the community generally, Camp K’s real passion is helping those with cognitive or physical disabilities. Camp K believes that helping those with differing abilities is important, and tailors many of their activities to helping such individuals have a fun and rewarding experience.

How You Can Help

While donations (cash or otherwise) are welcome, and they help Camp K to do more for more people, they’re not the only way to get involved. Volunteering to help with the camp for special events is a great way to help out and give back to those who need it most.

Whether helping mentor someone in need at an activity, or getting your hands dirty and helping with more manual tasks, there’s something to do for everyone who wants to help. For those who want to make helping others part of their everyday lives, Camp K has employment opportunities.

So join with us, and help Camp K help others find the confidence to succeed in life.
